Shihan Sennen Henry

 7th Dan Karate and 5th Dan Kobudo (weapons)

Shihan Sennen Harry is the Head Instructor for the Okinawa Kan Goju-Ryu Karate Pakuranga Dojo and one of the founding members of our organization. Along with Shihan Murray Simpson, he is one of the two founding members of OGKNZ. Shihan Sennen oversees the technical and training standards for all students at the Pakuranga Dojo. He also assists with karate camps and tournaments, which are attended by many other Goju Ryu Karate Dojos. He teaches both Karate and Kobudo (weapons). Shihan Sennen began his karate journey in 1981 at the Dunedin Dojo under Hanshi Bob Cahill. In 1986 and 1987, he taught and trained at the University of Otago Karate Club, where over 120 students trained regularly. During this time, he continued his training at the Dunedin Honbu Dojo up to four nights a week.

He is directly affliated with Kiichi Nakamoto Hanshi's organization, Goju Ryu Karate do Okinawakan Kyokai, which is based in Okinawa, Japan, as a Shibu Cho (offical branch). Shihan Sennen regularly travels to Okinawa for personal Karate and Kobudo training.
• 2011: Received the Auckland Goju-Ryu Karate Association Black Belt of the Year trophy. • 2014: Graded to Godan (5th Dan Black Belt) by Hanshi Kiichi Nakamoto. • 2018: Graded to Rokudan (6th Dan Black Belt) by Hanshi Kiichi Nakamoto in Okinawa. • 2023: Graded to Shichidan (7th Dan Black Belt) by Hanshi Kiichi Nakamoto in Okinawa. His son, Kieran Harry, is also a black belt and trains at the Pakuranga Dojo whenever he can.

Shihan Tony Webber

5th Dan

5th Dan Karate and 4th Dan Kobudo (weapons)

Sensei Tony began his martial arts journey with Tae Kwon Do in 1985, achieving his first dan in 1989, second dan in 1992, and third dan in 1996. During this time, he also started a building apprenticeship and trained in kickboxing for five years. In 1998, he paused his training to build his home, get married, and raise two children. Sensei Tony resumed his martial arts training in Goju Ryu karate at Pakuranga with his children, who were then aged 5 and 7, under Sensei Sennen Harry. • 2014: Graded to Shodan (1st Dan). • 2016: Graded to Nidan (2nd Dan). • 2019: Graded to Sandan (3rd Dan). • 2022: Graded to Yondan (4th Dan). • 2023: Graded to Godan (5th Dan) by Hanshi Kiichi Nakamoto in Okinawa. Sensei Tony Webber enjoys training with his son and further developing his karate and Kobudo skills through teaching. Outside of karate, Tony enjoys hunting, fishing, and diving.

Sensei Donald Mani

Sensei Donald began his karate training in December 1995 under Sensei Pene Nonu in Fiji, who was the president of Fiji karate at the time. In 1997, while still a blue belt, he started teaching due to Sensei Pene's transfer to Suva for work. He continued teaching and achieved his Shodan (1st Dan black belt) in 2001. After immigrating to New Zealand in 2004, he resumed training at the Henderson Dojo and earned his Nidan (2nd Dan black belt) in 2006. After a break due to family commitments, he restarted training at the Pakuranga Dojo under Shihan Sennen. • 2012: Graded to Sandan (3rd Dan) • 2022: Graded to Yondan (4th Dan) Sensei Donald has represented Fiji in the World Goju Ryu Karate Championship in South Africa in 2013 and New Zealand in 2015. Sensei Donald's two children also train at the Pakuranga Dojo. Sensei Donald Mani is passionate about teaching and strives to be the best karateka he can be.

Sensei Chris Lim

4th Dan

4th Dan Karate and 4 th Dan Kobudo (weapons)

Chris's martial arts experience includes eight years of intensive training in Kyokushin Shushikai karate and Seido Karate during the 1980s and early 1990s. In 2018, after seeking a good karate club for his daughters, Chris decided to join Pakuranga Dojo himself after observing the quality teaching offered. Having spent six years as a competitive road cyclist and mountain biker, he found Goju Ryu to be more than just a hobby—it became a lifestyle. He continues to expand his martial arts horizons through Goju Ryu karate under Sennen Sensei's guidance, and through visits to the Honbu Dojo in Okinawa. He remains dedicated to exploring both karate and kobudo, and its benefits for a well-rounded, healthy mind, body, and spirit. Chris trains six days a week, often in his purpose-built dojo at home. • 2020: Graded to Shodan (1st Dan) by Sennen Harry Shihan. • 2022: Graded to Nidan (2nd Dan) by Sennen Harry Shihan. • 2023: Graded to Yondan (4th Dan) by Hanshi Kiichi Nakamoto in Okinawa.
